Hello, dear friend!
I am stopping by for a short visit with you while I am on a special journey. I hope only to stay with you for a brief time before I continue on my way. The purpose of my trip is to visit many nice folks and help them recall a special memory that took place in nature. Perhaps it was in a lovely garden, maybe on a walk in the woods. A gardening tip handed down or a bit of nature lore might come to mind. Memories are wonderful things….while we are fortunate enough to recall them.
My goal is to gather short stories from people, reflecting their connection with and appreciation of nature. These memories might include people who are/were special to us, or, our favorite recollections may be when we were alone, appreciating the natural world in solitude.
Sharing these special moments with others will not only reinforce the significance of nature in our lives, it will also instill the importance of preserving it for future generations. By compiling stories in a book format, we will preserve those special moments for posterity. An added bonus – sales of the book will help raise money for Alzheimer’s and Autism research.
My Travel Itinerary:
Today – Fill me with your favorite hot drink and enjoy my photos. Snip any postmark & stamps off the outside and stick them in the envelope on my box (they will add to the interest of the book’s pages).
Over the next few days - Refill me often as you enjoy my pretty photos and get inspired to jot down a “moment in nature remembered.” I know guests shouldn’t be picky, but during my visit I prefer baths in the sink (dishwashers fade my photos).
Within a week (I don’t want to wear out my welcome) - Record what popped into your head & e-mail it to – jody@beautifulGIFT.org or mail it to Beautiful GIFT, P.O. Box 2375, East Peoria, IL 61611-0375 along with any photos (perhaps even a new one of you & me). This isn’t a competition or contest of any kind. Think of it as a one-way conversation. It may be as brief as a few sentences or as lengthy as a few pages. To help me remember all the nice folks I have visited; please sign your name, with your address, city, state, & zip code (country, if outside of the USA) on my “travel log”.
Preferably within 1-2 weeks – Put me back in my box with a favorite flavor tea bag or packet of cocoa, pack me up, and send me off on my merry way to visit a friend or family member of yours who you think might have a nice memory to share.
I hope you enjoy reminiscing! Thank you for your sharing your memories!
Warmly yours,
The Memory Mug
P.S. Some memories and photos submitted may also be added to the Beautiful GIFT website.. As I travel I will gather more stories for more book editions. My hope is to travel the world until we have found cures & ways to prevent Alzheimer’s & Autism. Please direct any questions to the P. O. address or e-mail above, or call Jody at (309) 698-1143.
